Together we are One

Our Story

Starting in June 2016, Dr Rekha’s Zep Foundation established World Digital Detox Day.

It is an Non Profitable Organization (NGO) researching in wellness for more than 16 years in India and working closely with tribes and country side to discover the secrets of a healthy lifestyle and behavior pattern.

Knowing more about the tribal lifestyle, their food habits and mindset enabled Dr Rekha’s Zep Foundation to empower the rural tribal youth, primarily women in wellness industry.

The foundation also creates opportunities for women in the wellness industry and successfully transforms thousands of young lives. Other initiatives from the foundation include providing education utilities to students and teaching them how to balance the online and offline world.

We also want to nurture a healthy relationship between technology and happiness while promoting mental wellness. With the increasing grip of technology in every sphere of our lives, Dr Rekha foresaw the challenges and worked towards bringing thought leaders from various industries like wellness, healthcare, government, technology, and education to reduce the impact of digital overload.

A Growing Revolution

Since its inception, the Global Digital Detox Day has gained momentum with more and more people joining the bandwagon.  There has been a growing consciousness of how technology can force one to lead dual lives and adversely impact one’s mental wellbeing.

Our Purpose

With the World Digital Detox Day we want to bring about a revolution in the use of technology driving people towards its conscious and judicious use. Our focus is to help people lead a life fully ‒ meaningfully and purposefully – to take them closer to a balanced and holistic lifestyle, which promises both mental and physical wellbeing.

Founder’s Message

Founder’s Message

"I have been a Global Wellness Ambassador for more than a decade now and I know the importance of physical wellbeing but my passion for working towards holistic wellness of people has also made me take notice of this burgeoning problem of Digital Addiction. Our lives have become slaves to the digital world, we constantly and almost aimlessly browse for hours, binge watch content, and are glued for validation on social media. And this has resulted in a one of its kind epidemic of digital addiction. It is a challenge that is eating up on the raw energy and zest of our new generation. And this challenge inspired me to start World Digital Detox Day, an initiative that concentrates on mental wellness."

Inspirations

There is a growing cadre of experts from across a variety of disciplines wh re beginning to think about these issues. Sub-disciplines that fall under Digital Wellness include Digital Ethics, Digital Citizenship, Digital Mindfulness, Digital Nutrition, and Digital Education.

The need is emerging for a new field of Digital Wellness that brings together these diverse viewpoints on the relationship between technology and wellbeing and seeks to establish a holistic and unified approach to these issues.

By establishing healthy guidelines and boundaries for our relationship with technology, a holistic and sustainable approach to technology use and adoption will allow us to maintain elements of our non-digital humanity in the age of technology

Manifesto

Let’s work to make technology an assistant in celebrating life fully instead of draining out our energies and drifting us towards a make-belief world.
